Women’s Soccer Victorious in Regional Semifinal

Lady Cougars Advance to New England Championship

(Holyoke, MA) - Women's soccer secured a home victory in their regional tournament semifinal on Thursday afternoon, pushing them through to the New England championship game. The Lady Cougars defeated Bristol CC 3-1, the same score by which they won in the two regular season meetings between the sides. Holyoke will be making its 20th consecutive appearance in the regional championship game, having won the title on 12 occasions. Thursday's win was the eighth in a row for this year's Cougars.

Madisyn Davis (Ware, MA / Ware HS) opened the scoring with a first-half tally and added an assist on the Lady Cougars' second goal. Emma Allyn (Holyoke, MA / Hampshire Regional HS), who was sensational throughout the game, buried Holyoke's second goal, the eventual game-winner. Arianna Soares (Ludlow, MA / Ludlow HS) scored the third, a remarkable finish that came just one minute after the Cougars conceded a goal. Paige Hebert (Monson, MA / Minnechaug HS), who was very likely the best player on the field in the win, had a pair of assists.

Women's soccer improves their overall record to 12-4. They are 7-2 in regional play and 10-3 against NJCAA teams. The Lady Cougars will travel for the New England championship game and square off against CC of Rhode Island in a rematch of last year's final. Holyoke lost both regular season matchups this year against their top-seeded opponent. The championship will be played on Sunday, November 3rd at CCRI's Flanagan Campus in Lincoln, RI. Kickoff is set for 1pm. Let's go Cougars!
