Men’s Soccer Players Receive Individual Honors
One All-Region Team Selection Among Honorees
Three members of the 2024 Cougars' soccer team have earned individual honors for their outstanding performances this past season. One athlete was named to the All-New England (All-Region) team, one was selected as the HCC team's Most Valuable Player (MVP) and one was honored as the HCC team's Player Award recipient.
Mahamatnour Moussa (Springfield, MA / Sudan HS) - Freshman - Forward - #17
2024 - 2nd Team All-New England
Moussa was the Cougars' most dangerous attacking player, remarkably skilled and very tricky with the ball at his feet. A strong finisher with great speed, he was constantly a handful for opposing defenders. Moussa led the Cougars in goals, points and game-winning goals this season.
Nicolas Tobin (Chicopee, MA / Chicopee Comprehensive HS) - Freshman - Defender - #4
2024 - Cougars Most Valuable Player
Tobin anchored Holyoke's defensive line as one of the team's center backs. A smart, hard working defender who reads the game extremely well, Tobin earned Most Valuable Player honors with his tenacious defending and ability to play the ball brilliantly out of the back. He led the Cougars in assists this season with his great passing and ability to serve a long ball from the run of play and on free kicks.
Liam Sibley-Welch (South Hadley, MA / South Hadley HS) - Freshman - Defender / Midfielder - #13
2024 - Cougars Player Award
Sibley-Welch was one of the Cougars' hardest working players throughout the season. A true competitor and team player, he battled fiercely and physically while playing multiple positions based on the team's needs. Sibley-Welch was tied for second on the Cougars in both goals and points this year. A classy individual and dedicated athlete, he fittingly earns the men's soccer Player Award honor.
