Women’s Soccer Victorious at Home
Lady Cougars Shutout Bay Path
(Holyoke, MA) - Women's soccer earned their first win of the young season on Wednesday afternoon, defeating Bay Path University 4-0. After a slow start to their season, which included a few game cancelations, the Lady Cougars looked sharp on their home field on their way to the shutout victory.
Sophomore forward Madisyn Davis (Ware, MA / Ware HS) led the charge for Holyoke, scoring a pair of goals in the first half. Sophomore midfielder Paige Hebert (Minnechaug Regional HS / Monson, MA) was all over the field and all over the scoresheet, tallying a goal and two assists in the win. Hebert currently leads the team in points with seven and assists with three. Freshman midfielder Rachel Miller (Westfield, MA / Homeschooled) scored her first collegiate goal in the contest. Sophomore defender Emily McGrail (Ware, MA / Ware HS), who scored a freekick goal in each of the Cougars' first two games, led the defense that gave up just one shot on goal on Wednesday. Freshman goalkeeper Cadince Wells-Robinson (Conway, MA / Frontier Regional HS) made one save to earn her and the team's first shutout of the season.
Women's soccer has a 1-2-0 overall record and are 0-2-0 in the region. They will host a non-regional matchup on Saturday, September 20th (gametime TBA) before squaring off against two regional opponents next week. Let's go Cougars!
