Women’s Volleyball Marches to Sixth Consecutive Win
Lady Cougars Claim Another in Straight Sets
(Holyoke, MA) – Women's volleyball continues to rattle off wins this season, defeating regional opponent Mass Bay CC 3-0 on Tuesday evening. The Lady Cougars used a bit of a slow first set on their home court to ease into the game before kicking it into high gear on their way to another straight set victory. Holyoke won the first set 25-21, the second 25-11 and the third 25-14. The Cougars have won six games in a row for the second time this season and 11 of their 12 victories have been claimed in straight sets.
Jaylanie Nieves (Holyoke, MA / Chicopee HS) took charge in Tuesday's win, scoring 14 points which including nine kills. Nieves was a perfect 9 for 9 on her kill attempts and served five aces in the matchup. Isabelle Garutti (Springfield, MA / Sabis International Charter HS) led the way in digs with 20 and aces with six while Caidence White (Springfield, MA / Central HS) led in kills with 12.
Women's Volleyball has a 12-2 overall record. They are 12-1 against NJCAA teams and 11-1 in the New England region. Holyoke travels for their next pair of games and has a matchup against the only regional team they've lost to, Massasoit CC, on Saturday, October 18th at 1pm. Three of their final four regular season games will be played at home. Let's go Cougars!
