Women’s Soccer Victorious in Pink Out Game
Lady Cougars Support Breast Cancer Awareness
(Holyoke, MA) - Women's soccer donned their pink in support of breast cancer awareness on Wednesday afternoon, something the team loves to do every October. The Lady Cougars were victorious, scoring six first-half goals on their way to a 7-2 victory over visiting Quinsigamond CC. Holyoke wore pink uniform socks to honor the cause and players wore pink hair accessories and painted pink ribbons onto their skin.
Madisyn Davis (Ware, MA / Ware HS), the Cougars' team captain and leading scorer, took charge of the offense in the win. Davis tallied a hat trick with all three of her goals coming in the first half and she added an assist. Avery Ellis (Agawam, MA / Homeschooled Agawam), who has played much of her HCC soccer career as a goalkeeper, scored her first collegiate goal and had an assist. Samantha Lowe (Ware, MA / Pathfinder Technical HS) potted a goal and assisted on another and Paige Hebert (Minnechaug Regional HS / Monson, MA) racked up three assists. Emily McGrail (Ware, MA / Ware HS) and Yanelis Lacen (Chicopee, MA / Chicopee HS) each scored a goal.
Women's soccer improves to 6-3 overall and 5-3 in the region. On Saturday, October 18th the HCC women's soccer program will retire the #7 jersey of former player Amanda Cummings (Agawam, MA / Agawam HS) who tragically lost her life in August of 2023. The jersey retirement ceremony will be held at 3pm and Holyoke will host Bay Path University for a 3:30pm kickoff. Let's go Cougars!
