Women’s Volleyball Knocks Off Top Seed to Take Over First Place
Lady Cougars Sit atop New England Standings with Win
(Brockton, MA) – Women's volleyball continues to dominate in New England (Region XXI), on Saturday afternoon defeating the only regional team they had lost to this season. The Lady Cougars knocked off Massasoit CC 3-1 to take over first place in the regional standings. Holyoke won set one 25-23 before dropping set two 20-25. They then won the third set 25-22 before taking the fourth set in overtime 29-27. The victory is the seventh straight for the Cougars.
Caidence White (Springfield, MA / Central HS) led the charge for Holyoke in the big win, scoring 21 points which included 18 kills and three service aces. White also had 25 digs in the contest. Isabelle Garutti (Springfield, MA / Sabis International Charter HS), who has been the Cougars' strongest digger all season, tallied an impressive 43 digs in the victory and served two aces. The Lady Cougars' setter, Serymar Santos (Santo Domingo, DR / Holyoke HS), displayed excellent touch on the ball as usual, registering 37 assists while coming up with ten digs.
Women's volleyball has an overall record of 14-2. They are 13-1 in the region and 14-1 in games against fellow NJCAA teams. Holyoke will play three of their four remaining regular season games at home in the Bartley Center. Let's go Cougars!
