Rohan Scores 500th Point in Cougars' Home Opener
Men's Basketball Falls on Bittersweet Night
(Holyoke, MA) - Men's basketball played their first home game of the season on Thursday night, hosting regional opponent Quinsigamond CC in front of a packed Bartley Center crowd. The Cougars played well in the first half, leading at the break, but unfortunately fell 77-73.
Sophomore Dylan Rohan (Holyoke, MA / Holyoke HS) achieved a massive milestone in the game, scoring his 500th career point. Rohan, who tallied 476 points as a freshman, hit his 500th point early in the contest and was presented with a ceremonial basketball to commemorate the occasion. He is the first men's basketball player to join HCC's "500 Point Club" since the 2019-20 season. Rohan led the way for the Cougars in the matchup, scoring a season-high 21 points, which included four three-pointers. Sophomore James Fitzgibbons (Hadley, MA / Hopkins Academy) registered a double-double in the game, notching 12 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.
Men's basketball has a 0-1 regional record and an 0-3 overall record. They will travel for a pair of games before a home contest on Saturday, November 15th at 3pm against Mass Bay CC. Let's go Cougars!
