Women’s Basketball Claims Regional Home Win
Strong First Half Propels Lady Cougars to Victory
(Holyoke, MA) – Women's basketball got back to their winning ways on Thursday night, earning a 65-59 home victory over regional opponent Northern Essex CC. The Lady Cougars dominated early on, scoring 38 points in the first half to take a 17-point lead into halftime. Holyoke was able to hold off a strong second-half push from their opposition on their way to the win
Johanys Andrades (Springfield, MA / Putnam Vocational Technical HS) played brilliantly for the Cougars, leading the team in points, rebounds and assists. Andrades scored a season-high 21 points while grabbing nine rebounds and dishing eight assists. Emily McGrail (Ware, MA / Ware HS) had a team-high four blocks for Holyoke and was second in points with nine.
Women's basketball is in second place in the New England standings with a 3-1 regional record. They are 4-3 overall and 4-1 versus NJCAA opponents. Holyoke will travel for a pair of games this weekend before their next home game against Roxbury CC, recently rescheduled to Tuesday, December 9th at 5:30pm. Let's go Cougars!
