Dixon Registers Rare Triple-Double

(Taunton, MA / Amherst, MA) - Women's basketball played a pair of away games over the weekend, earning a decisive 82-37 victory over non-regional opponent Hampshire College on Sunday. The Lady Cougars fell 66-46 in Saturday's matchup against regional foe Bristol CC. Holyoke's 82 points scored in Sunday's win is the second highest total they've reached in a game this season, trailing only the 93 they racked up in the season opener.

Annastacia Dixon (Keene, NH / Keene HS) had a stellar performance for the Cougars on Sunday, registering a triple-double in the contest. Dixon scored 12 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to go along with an impressive ten steals to accomplish the feat. The triple-double is the first achieved by a Holyoke player this season. Vivian Timmons (West Springfield, MA / Guilderland HS) led the way offensively against Hampshire, scoring 20 points which included shooting 5 for 6 from the free-throw line. Each of HCC's eight players who played in Sunday's game scored at least one basket and tallied at least one rebound and one steal. Five players scored double digits in points.

Women's basketball has an overall record of 5-4 and a regional record of 4-2. The Lady Cougars will play in two home doubleheaders this week, with each of their contests followed by an HCC men's basketball game. Holyoke will host Roxbury CC at 5:30pm on Tuesday, December 9th and Springfield Technical CC at 1pm on Saturday, December 13th. Let's go Cougars!
