Lady Cougars Trounce Local Rival Again
Women's Hoop Secures Program's First Ever 100-Point Game
(Springfield, MA) - Women's basketball traveled to square off against Springfield Technical CC on Thursday evening, earning a decisive win over their local rival for the second time this season. The Lady Cougars offense was firing on all cylinders in the dominant 109-33 road victory. The win was a historical one for HCC women's basketball, marking the first time in the program's history that they scored 100 points in a single game. The Lady Cougars defeated STCC 98-40 in this season's previous meeting between the teams.
Vivian Timmons (West Springfield, MA / Guilderland HS) led the onslaught and was one of five Holyoke players to reach double digits in points in the contest. Timmons registered a double-double, leading the Cougars in points with 31 and rebounds with 14. She sank a pair of three-pointers and shot 3 for 3 from the free throw line and her 14 rebounds are her season-high. Mileidy Rosado (Springfield, MA / Putnam Vocational Technical HS) put forth her best performance of the season on the way to a double-double. Rosado led Holyoke in assists with ten and scored 12 points; both are her season-high in the category. Annastacia Dixon (Keene, NH / Keene HS) tallied 16 points and led the Cougars in steals with five.
Women's basketball has an 8-3 regional record and a 9-7 overall record. They are at home for their next game on Tuesday, February 3rd at 5:30pm against regional opponent Massasoit CC. Four of their six remaining regular season games will be played at home on Golas Court in the Bartley Center. Let's go Cougars!
