Women’s Hoop Scores 100 for Second Straight Game
Four Lady Cougars Register a Double-Double in Win
(Holyoke, MA) – Prior to their most recent away game, the HCC women's basketball program had never scored 100 points in a single game. Now they've done so twice and in consecutive games. The Lady Cougars put forth a truly dominant performance at home on Tuesday night, stomping Massasoit CC 106-20. The 106 points scored in the contest is the second highest total all-time for HCC women's basketball, behind the 109 scored in the previous matchup. The 86-point margin of victory is the largest all-time for the program. Tuesday's win was Holyoke's third in a row.
Four Lady Cougars registered a double-double in the victory with Johanys Andrades (Springfield, MA / Putnam Vocational Technical HS) and Annastacia Dixon (Keene, NH / Keene HS) leading the charge. Andrades and Dixon had identical point and rebound totals, each scoring a game-high 25 points and bringing down ten rebounds. Andrades had nine assists, just one shy of what would have given her an elusive triple-double. Vivian Timmons (West Springfield, MA / Guilderland HS) and Tatiyana Zuniga (Westfield, MA / Westfield HS) tallied the other double-doubles. Timmons led the way in rebounds with 14 and scored 20 points while Zuniga (Westfield, MA / Westfield HS) led in steals with ten and scored 14 points.
Women's basketball has an 8-3 regional record and a 10-7 overall record. They are away for their next matchup before two in a row at home on Saturday, February 7th and Tuesday, February 10th. Holyoke will host Hampshire College at 2pm on the 7th and Bristol CC at 5:30pm on the 10th. Let's go Cougars!
