Women’s Basketball Victorious on Consecutive Days
Lady Cougars on Five-Game Winning Streak
(Haverhill, MA / Holyoke, MA) - Women's basketball played on back-to-back days this past Friday and Saturday, securing a pair of victories. The Lady Cougars traveled on Friday, defeating regional opponent Northern Essex CC 79-71 before an 84-36 home win on Saturday against non-NJCAA opposition Hampshire College. Holyoke is on their longest winning streak of the season, having won five straight games.
Several Lady Cougars put forth strong performances in the two victories. Vivian Timmons (West Springfield, MA / Guilderland HS) was sensational on Friday, leading Holyoke with 26 points in the game. She was perfect on three-pointers and foul shots, impressively shooting 6 for 6 from long range and 4 for 4 from the free throw line. Timmons leads the team in points scored this season with 275 and in three pointers made with 31. Johanys Andrades (Springfield, MA / Putnam Vocational Technical HS) had a double-double on Friday, scoring 18 points and grabbing ten rebounds. She led the team in assists in both contests, dishing six on Friday and seven on Saturday. Andrades leads the team with 80 assists this season. Annastacia Dixon (Keene, NH / Keene HS) took charge on Saturday, leading the Cougars in points and rebounds on her way to a double-double. She dropped 19 points and brought down 13 boards. Dixon leads the team in total rebounds this season with 206 and is second in points with 242. Erin Bullough (South Hadley, MA / South Hadley HS) played a stellar game on Saturday, scoring a season-high 18 points. She sank six three pointers in the matchup, another personal season high. Bullough is second on the team in three pointers made this year with 29.
Women's basketball has a 12-7 overall record and a 10-3 regional record. They will host Bristol CC on Tuesday, February 10th at 5:30pm. A victory would give Holyoke a very strong chance of finishing in 2nd place in the regular season New England standings. Let's go Cougars!
